Driving Innovation: Hipert’s Autonomous Showcase at Indy Autonomous Challenge in Monza
Hipert, a proud supporter of the TII Unimore Racing team, recently had the opportunity to showcase some of its features in the field of autonomous driving at the prestigious Indy Autonomous Challenge in Monza.
Our pursuit of robust localization spanned the entire track, encompassing challenging areas such as pitlanes and bridges. Leveraging a fusion of advanced technologies, including #Lidar localization (represented by the red circle), top #GPS NovAtel (blue circle), bottom GPS NovAtel (green circle), and Vectornav at 5Hz (white circle), we achieved a remarkable final vehicle localization (yellow circle).
An essential aspect of our success was the unwavering reliability of our Lidar map, which remained consistent since day one of testing, demonstrating its resilience over time. We were the first to seamlessly navigate the track without any pauses under bridges starting from the second day of testing.
Our commitment to excellence extended beyond #perception and #localization. We prioritized system integration and simulation, ensuring a robust stack capable of handling unforeseen incidents. By simulating real-world scenarios, we perfected our #algorithms to mimic the vehicle’s behavior even before it hit the actual track.
